SSD Wrigley

Darlene and SSD Wrigley

I've learned that from Failure comes Success. I spent 2 years learning to train SSD Wrigley for Susquehanna Service Dogs, only to have him discharged from the program due to kennel stress and allergies. What a disappointment for me. I questioned myself "what did I do wrong-what didn't I do". He didn't know he "failed" he was just a happy dog. Well, now after 3 more years of training (super advanced) SSD Wrigley is one of a few SSD dogs that is certified to be a Demonstration/Therapy/Interview dog. SSD Wrigley does the full realm of service behaviors, wheelchair work, balance work; hearing work (for someone with a hearing disability). He also loves going into schools and churches and civic organizations to get the word out about service dogs and particularlly, Susquehanna Service Dogs. Yes ... Success is acheived thru failure ... What a wonderful experience this has been! Now, I am the Puppy Coordinator and I have grown in many many ways.. And it all started - 5 years ago - with a little black puppy named SSD Wrigley.
