Pete and Chevy
Chevy is my 2nd Guide Dog. I retired my first, Romance, in March of 2009. I'll tell you, that 10 month period (I'd taken a 3 month healing time) was pretty lonely, and by November of '09 I was ready! That's when I got to meet my "Chevers". When I met him in the trainers' office I knew it was gonna be love at first kiss. That love was sure made even more solid on our first walk. No more stumbling and fumbling with that plastic stick! I was flying again down the sidewalk. Since graduation, Chevy has been there in every way. He's there guiding me around these uneven at times sidewalks here in Austin, and he's there as company and comforts me in times of emotional need as well. As was my last guide, Chevy is part of me now and I am one humbled and grateful person because of him.
