Phyllis and SSD Franklin
My life was enriched by Frank in so many ways. A divorcee with my only child in college, I was alone, with a disability due to MS. Then Frank came to live with me and changed everything. He was first of all, my best friend. Along with opening doors and picking up dropped items for me, his willingness to 'find the phone' enabled me to live alone, and that was just wonderful. If I fell, which happened too often, I could not get up by myself. He would bring me the phone, and I could call for help. One time I fell in my backyard, partially in a small ornamental fishpond. My scooter lay on top of my legs, and I was trapped. I opened the glass patio door with the remote attached to my scooter, and said 'Frank, find the phone." He went into the house and returned with the phone. I called 911 for help . The 911 operator asked for the problem. I said I have fallen into a backyard pond and I can't get up. After a long silence, he said "And you have a phone there?" I said "Not usually, but my dog brought it to me." There was another long pause. "Your dog brought yiou the phone?" By then I was in tears, and explained that I have a special dog, a service dog, and this is NOT a crank call. Help arrived... and we survived to await our next adventure.
