Baby Love
Tami and Baby Love
I am submitting a story written by my daughter Megan. I am so proud of her and her compassion for homeless animals.
My name is Megan and I am a 10 year old girl that loves dogs. My story is not of a one thousand dollar pedigree french poodle. But it is a story of a stray Pit Bill mix named Baby Love. I first met Baby Love in the summer of 2009, although she arrived at the York County SPCA on February 13, 2009. She came to my attention because of her name, you see my dog's real name is Freckles but her nick name is Baby Love. But after a few times of visiting Baby Love at the YCSPCA, her name didn't matter anymore; a special bond had grown between us. It grew tighter and tigher until I found myself begging my Mom to adopt her. My mom was unable to adopt Baby Love because she has a fear of dogs, especially Pit Bulls.
She finally put her fear aside and got us an English Springer Spaniel, but is not ready to try a Pit Bull yet. But her and my Dad take me to visit her once a week and I even sponsored her cage for $10 with my own money. I wrote a story about her and the volunteers allowed me to put it on her cage. I also donate supplies to the shelter. It might not seem like it, but Baby Love changed my life because Pit Bulls are my favorite dog breed now.
At one time, I was afraid of Pit Bulls too, but now I think they are one of the most trustworthy dog breeds. Many people disagree with me because they think all Pits were bred to fight. I want to raise awareness that Pits can be loyal dogs... just ask Cesar Milan! Also while visiting the YCSPCA I met a new friend, Shana, she is one of the managers there. She always responds to my emails when I have questions about the dogs and spent alot of time with me recently when I was there.
I'm not just writing this because of the money. I am doing this for Baby Love and other homeless dogs and cats. I plan on donating a portion of the money to help the homeless animals. I am happy to report that although Baby Love has not been adopted yet, she is now in a foster home with one of the volunteers from the YCSPCA.
I hope to meet that volunteer and get an update on Baby Love soon. Thanks for reading my story and please vote for me.. remember some of the money will also help animals that need help. My final message... if you think you would enjoy being greeted with a smile every time you enter your home, even if it's just from taking out the trash, please consider adopting a dog from your local animal shelter.
