Willie
Walt and Willie
The call from the SPCA came on a spring morning. I arrived and saw this long haired, scruffy "mutt", took him home, gave him a haircut and bath and introduce him to Malinda. Over the years, Willie had many health issues...bladder stone removal operation, cataract removal in both eyes; glaucoma, rendering him blind in his left eye, enlarged heart and diabetes. Willie was subjected to two insulin injections daily for over two years. He endured all these health issues, injections, blood drawing, poking and proding for over 3 years and never became mean or nasty. Finally, Doug Schmidt DVM, Patton Veterinary, told us that it was time for Willie to go , as his "quality of life" was at an end, due to massive internal bleeding. He has taught us that love from a dog is unconditional. He has taught us humility, and that love of a dog has no price tag.
